My area of specialization is trauma and working with people dealing with addictions. I specialize in treatment of traumatic stress responses. This ranges from post-traumatic stress disorder to symptoms that are caused by stressful situations. Consequently, stress responses manifest different ways in different in people. As a result, it can impact and cause relationship problems, anxiety, phobias, and grief, as well as performance anxiety in areas of sports, public speaking, and work.
Over the years, I have worked with survivors from a broad spectrum of traumatic experiences including crime, rape, industrial injuries, motor vehicle crashes, medical trauma, abuse, and neglect. For treatment, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is designed to reduce trauma-related stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and to improve overall mental health functioning. Victims of crime, combat veterans, and survivors of disasters have all benefited from EMDR treatment.
An additional area of my specialization is addiction treatment. I provide treatments that address more than the addiction in itself. Treatment involves addressing the reason why people developed their addiction. Through the exploration of these underlying issues we are then able to help identify triggers and urges and therefore use counter techniques to help you resist these impulses.
