Addiction Therapy

Overcome Your Addiction with Effective Therapy

I am a Licensed Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC) in San Diego CA specializing in addiction. I have worked with people to overcome their addiction. One of the biggest things that I have found while working as an addiction therapist is that most people abuse as a form of coping. When using or engaging in abusive behaviors no longer provide relief to the underlying issues, people become stuck. Prolong use could turn into dependency. Often people get stuck in this additive role and find themselves over taken by negative behaviors or drugs or alcohol.

How I Treat Addiction?

I have a two prong approach to treating addiction. 1. Addressing the physical dependency aspect of drug use, by abstaining from abusive behaviors 2. Using Smart Recovery to address cognitive distortion you may have about using. If you are concerned about your drug and/or alcohol usage and you decide to meet with me,a renownedAddiction Therapist in San Diego, I will begin by taking a comprehensive Alcohol and Drug History. Based on this assessment, I may make one or more of the following recommendations:
  • Individual Therapy
  • Detoxification
  • In-Patient Rehabilitation
  • Outpatient Intensive Program
  • Drug Testing *If requested*
  • Twelve Step Programs Meetings or Smart Recovery Meetings

Seek Treatment in San Diego to Live a Healthy Life

If my recommendation involves referral to an in-patient treatment center, I will facilitate that process. At this point, we will begin by focusing on you getting and staying sober. Through individual therapy, we will enforce behavioral contingencies that promote abstinence and a healthy life style. This may involve identifying triggers, "people, places and things" that make it difficult for you to stay sober. Alcohol and/or drugs may have been a way of medicating painful underlying feelings such as anger, sadness, grief, etc., you may not be aware of your feelings. The more sobrieties you have, the more access you will have to these feelings. Early recovery can be a difficult time and I as an Addiction therapist will help you identify and negotiate the new feelings you may be experiencing.
